Bellator 200 results

Bellator’s 200th event is in the books, and what a show it was. Through 15 fights, plenty of action unfolded at the SSE Arena in London, England, culminating in Gegard Mousasi’s title win in the middleweight division.

The former Strikeforce- and DREAM-champion took the Bellator strap from Rafael Carvalho in the first round, dragging the Brazilian to the ground and eventually stopping him via Groundandpound.

In the co-main event, undefeated Londoner Michael “Venom” Page took on American David Rickels. In what was supposed to be Page’s toughest test to date, the flashy striker showed every bit of the taunting and showing off that has made him a star. That, and a striking game that is as dangerous as it is unorthodox. With low hands and spectacular kicks, Page kept Rickels at distance, frustrating the Kansas native to no end. In the second round, with Page taking the taunting to the next level and his opponent bleeding heavily, Rickels waved the fight off himself, giving the Englishman a victory via verbal submission.

Reality-TV star Aaron Chalmers improved to 4-0 by choking out Ash Griffiths in the first round. While Chalmers, who trains at Renegade MMA in Birmingham, England alongside UFC standouts such as Tom Breese and Leon Edwards, had to get through a heavy knee strike early, he caught Griffiths in a Guillotine Choke shortly thereafter and made him go limp after less than two minutes.

Anastasia Yankova had entered Bellator MMA with substantial hype around her but failed to deliver according to expectations. After two close calls, Kate Jackson put an end to her undefeated run at Bellator 200, outpointing the Russian Thai boxer on the ground over the course of three rounds.

Kicking off the main card, Phil Davis put on a good performance against England’s Linton Vassell but put an exclamation point on the competitive light-heavyweight bout when he knocked his opponent out with a vicious head kick after 65 seconds of the third round. Vassell had to be carried out of the arena in a wheelchair.
